Verbena Lemon

Verbena Lemon:

It is a small tree plant with a height of 3 to 6 meters with simple bayonet leaves 7 to 10 centimeters long, pointed, the crushed leaves of this plant have a pleasant lemon smell. The powder of the lemon leaf plant is dull green in color and has an aromatic smell, its taste is spicy and slightly bitter. This plant is native to South America and has been reported to grow naturally in Chile, Peru and Argentina. Lemon essential oil has been reported to have insecticidal and repellent properties, and is also used in perfumery.

Active ingredients:

Twenty-five compounds comprising 94.6% of the total essential oil were identified. The main ingredients of this essential oil are: geraniol, limonene, cineole, nerole, 1-octen-3-ol and nerol. In the Iranian sample essence of lemon, geraniol, nerol, limonene, cineole and nerole have also been reported as the main ingredients.

Pharmacology and applied medicine experts:

Currently, this plant is used for its antispasmodic, antipyretic, sedative and stomach tonic properties, treatment of palpitations, unilateral headaches and mental fatigue. This plant also has anticonvulsant, astringent, nerve pain relief and antipyretic effects and is effective in indigestion. Its tea is extremely calming and soothing to the nerves.

During a study, they found that lemongrass can be suitable for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

In other traditional medicine, this plant has been used as an antiflatulent and for the treatment of indigestion, asthma, fever, colds, diarrhea, colic, as well as to relieve nervous excitement with increased heart rate. In Mexico, it is used as an antispasmodic, sedative, stomach pain reliever, astringent and antidiarrheal. And in traditional Greek medicine, it is used as an infusion to treat headaches, bloating, nausea, indigestion, and dizziness.
